TOP OF THE LINE The Samsung UN55B8500 is the best of the best. With a retail price of $4,499, the 240 Hz 1080p unit has a contrast ratio of 7,000,000:1 . The 8500 series has an innovative LED dimming technology which selectively turns on and of blocks of LED's to give you the best picture available. Excellent deals can be found online! Expect to get at least $700-$800 of MSRP. SECOND CHOICE The Samsung UN55B8000 is a very fine alternative to the 8500 series 55 inch LED tv. It is also a 240 Hz 1080p HDTV with a slightly lower contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 . Of course the unit is very efficient with energy use. Expect to save in the range of $1200-$1500 of the MSRP of $3,799. THE REST Both the 7000 and 6000 Samsung series 55 inch LED televisions have a refresh rate of 120 hz which is the biggest difference. Since most broadcasts are currently at 120 Hz, one has to consider if you really need 240 Hz. Of course that may change in the future. The main difference between the 7000 and 6000 series has to do with internet connectivity. The 7000 LED tv has the new technology.
